Arbroath Cliff Top Walk
Embark on the Arbroath Cliff Walk, a journey that begins at the stunning Whiting Ness and stretches to the breathtaking Carlingheugh Bay, also known as The Flairs. Guided by an experienced local geologist, this adventure offers you a chance to connect with the earth’s deep-time story, uncovering geological wonders with every step. As you walk, you’ll find yourself captivated by the beauty of nature and the rich history around you. Visitors start the walk with curiosity, but they leave with a profound sense of wonder and appreciation for the world we inhabit.
The walk spans approximately 2.5 hours round trip and features a delightful break for tea or coffee, accompanied by Tunnock’s Tea Cakes—perfect treats to savour as you soak in the stunning views. While the path is a gentle stroll along paved cliffs, it’s essential to remember that the trail may not accommodate wheelchairs or prams, as it narrows in places and offers stunning yet exposed landscapes.

Blue Door Walk
Join Stories of Stone for an unforgettable journey back in time along one of Angus's most stunning walks. We follow the North Esk from the edge of the picturesque town of Edzell through the Blue Door on the Burn Estate to the start of the Angus Glens. Along the way, visitors will witness the 800-million-year-old geological story unfold, with key stops at famous geological sites. Discover stories from Deep Time going back hundreds of millions of years. We learn about the Burn estate, along which the walk runs, and some of the history associated with the house, including Napoleonic War prisoners who used to carve out the famous Rocks of Solitude. This walk is more advanced than our Cliff Top Walk. It is 3.5 hours long, and there is no paved path. The ground is undulating, and visitors need a good level of fitness to attempt it.
